Typically, Investment "options" are rights to buy or sell some underlying instrument. The "call" is typically the right, but not the obligation, to buy the underlying instrument and the "Put" is the right, but not the obligation, to sell the underlying instrument. Except for stock covered calls, this class of investments can lead to the total loss of one's money and therefore, education and experience in investing should be prerequisites for entering option transactions.
